Welcome to the 2009 Oklahoma
USSSA season! Effective 2007, teams participating in the Mixed Division of
USSSA will now be classified by the State Director instead of by the highest
level of play of an individual player. The National USSSA Office has also
eliminated the Mixed Class A and Mixed Class B. The Mixed Program
Classifications are now Mixed Major, Mixed C, Mixed D and Mixed E. The Oklahoma
USSSA Mixed Program will continue to use the guidelines that were put in place
in 2007,with the exception of the "Super
Program" These guidelines will once again be used to start the
classification process as the softball season begins. The
team that placed 1st in the Mixed
D State Tournament will begin the year classified as Mixed C. In order to help the
classification process, all rosters must be on-line prior to participating in
any USSSA tournament. If you need any assistance entering your roster, please
let me know and I will be happy to help. I am available via phone or e-mail
should you have any questions concerning the Oklahoma USSSA Mixed Program
(e-mail is the most effective method). I also welcome any suggestions you may
have to improve our Mixed Program.
1. Classification Guidelines
- Mixed teams that have any male player on the National
Majors Players List, or 3 or more male players who competed during the season
on a Men’s “Major” or “A” team shall be required to play in the Mixed Major
Division.
- Mixed teams that have 3 or more male players who
competed during the current season or the previous season (2007),
on a Men’s Class B team or 3 or more female players who competed during
the season on a Women’s Class A team shall be required to
start in a division
no lower than Mixed Major. Mixed teams that have 3 or more male players who
competed during the season or the previous season (2007), on a Men’s Class C
team or 3 or more female players who competed during the season on a Women’s
Class B team shall be required to
start in a division no lower than Mixed C. Those teams with less
than 3 Men’s Class C players (1 or 2) will be allowed to register as a D team
- Mixed teams that have 3 or more male players who
competed during the season or the previous season (2008), on a Men’s Class D
team shall be required to play in a division no lower than Mixed D..
- Players will NOT be allowed to drop more than one class
from previous year’s classification or current year’s classification.
For example, if you played Men’s B in 2008 you cannot play Mixed D in 2009.
- Teams participating in an Oklahoma USSSA tournament but
are registered in another state will be subjected to these guidelines,
regardless of their classification from their home state.
2. Re-Classification
A.
In the event
a team wins three (3) tournaments in any single classification, the Oklahoma
State Classification Board will automatically review the team’s classification.
This will determine whether or not the team’s classification is appropriate, and
may or may not reclassify it. At the State Tournament the team may be
allowed to compete in their original class level, providing that team has not
been permanently moved to a higher classification, and then only with the
approval of the Classification Board and/or the USSSA State Director.
- All teams requesting to be re-classified must have
played in four (4) Oklahoma USSSA
tournaments after March 20, 2009 and have had an approved roster
on line at
www.usssa.com Reclassification requests must be in writing on the official
USSSA reclassification form, this form can be downloaded from
www.oklahomausssa.net or
www.usssa.com . Reclassifications will only be considered at the August
and September Executive Board meetings. If
a team petitions down and is re-classified by the Oklahoma USSSA board then
adds additional upper level player, the team may be re-classified back to the
higher classification. Requests must be received by the
Executive Board on or before 1st of August or 1st of
September. Reclassification forms may be given to any Oklahoma USSSA executive
board member or mailed to:
OKLAHOMA USSSA
P.O. Box 892243
OKC, OK 73189-2243
- A team’s classification
may be changed at any time during the season by the State Director, and/or by
the Classification Board unless reclassified by the USSSA Constitution.
3. Rosters
- All rosters must be on-line prior to a bracket being
drawn for a tournament. If you do not have access to enter the roster
on-line, a signed copy of your roster must be submitted to the tournament
director. Roster forms will include manager’s
name, address, and telephone number, as well as the names (as
identified on the player’s driver’s license) and date of birth
of all of the players on the team. It will be the
responsibility of the tournament director to inform all teams of this rule
upon accepting a team’s entry into the tournament.
- It is the player's
responsibility to make sure that his name is entered into the system the same
way for each team he plays on in 2009. Each
player’s name should be entered as it appears on his/her driver’s license
. If a player's information is entered incorrectly, then THAT
PLAYER needs to contact the State Director and notify him about the error. If
your name is "Robert" and your name is entered as "Robert" and "Bob" for two
(2) different teams, then this will be considered a fraudulent attempt to
"beat the system" and will incur a penalty to both the player AND the team's
coach/manager. If your birthday is listed differently (Example: 2/15/81 on
your Men's D team roster and 2/15/80 on Mixed D team roster) this too, is
considered an attempt at trying to trick the system. EFFECT: The first attempt
will result in a 30-day suspension for both the player and the coach/manager.
The second attempt will result in both that player and manager suspended for a
period of one year. If it means that much for a player or coach to cheat and
"beat the system" then, if caught they will have to face the consequences of
their actions. The ISTS system has been improved and has given the State
Director several tools to help prevent this from happening, or at least being
able to 'catch' those that are 'guilty'.
4. Qualifying for the State Tournament
A.
Each team wishing
to participate in the Mixed State Tournament MUST be registered with Oklahoma
USSSA no later than July 1, 2009.
- Each team wishing to participate in the Mixed State
Tournament must participate in a minimum of 4
Oklahoma USSSA events in the 2009 season to be considered eligible
for the State Tournament. Two of these events may be a league, at least
1 of these events MUST be a qualifying tournament.
- In the event a
Mixed Team (excluding Mixed E league
teams)does
not meet the minimum of 4 events, they may still participate in the State
Tournament, but will placed in the highest classification bracket (Mixed C).
